Honda Signs for CSKA

As expected, former Grampus midfielder Keisuke Honda has joined CSKA Moccow, where he will get a chance to play in the Champions League. This seems a strange move for Keisuke since he will have to adapt to a different style of football in the months ahead of the World Cup, something that is likely to hurt his chances of forcing his way into Okada's plans.

However, we should remember that CSKA were willing to pay close to the 10 million euro transfer fee VVV were demanding. This is what prevented a move within Holland before the season began. Unlike then, VVV will have been keen to encourage Honda to leave, rather than wait for him to go on a free transfer after his contract expires at the end of the season.
